CeBIT Webciety Freddie Laker Interview

Fortunate for Sapient Germany and for the organisation of the Webciety at the CeBIT in Hannover, Freddie Laker, Sapient US Director Digital Media and popular founder of the blog takemetoyourleader.com was participating in an open stage interview. The discussion was very open and following points were discussed:

• Freddie Laker is developing digital strategies for Sapient on a global level, focusing on youth brands e.g. coca cola and social media work
• The most effective and used methods and instruments today are user generated content, tring to track all conversations & engage people
• The kind of "state of the art” website is www.skittles.com – with a Wiki as starting point and trend execution out of the mix to bring in all enhanced rich brand experience & social networking functionality – it’s all about candys!
• Marketing efforts are engaging people via web 2.0
• Measuring is important via digital engagement teams, for a better experience – it is customer services, not only marketing
• If Web 2.0 is all about collaboration, the next steps will be aggregation & intelligent selection. Tracking and trend out are important
• The semantic web is far away today, but even google started to do first steps. For now it is too much information & one need better search engines
• Categorization of information is necessary to get better results
• Facebook has so many personal data – they should use this information to start smart aggregation and categorization with a real user benefit!
• Next steps for companies: recommendations via facebook apps. Depending on the market top 5 ranking for every region, facebook is part of it
• More usage of “facebook connect” – code you can ad on your website for sharing user friendlist, personal profile data, pics, use your social graph!
• It enables sharing of content, socialist content is cheep and necessary in this economy and financial crisis
• Strategy approach: different media types are important for brand awareness not credibility is important through all these places not only social media, holistic view is important internet 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc. – what comes next?
